This is a bracelet strung with diverse Roman glass, gooseberry beads, beaded brass, and andesine. The round, elongated, and abacus-shaped beads are Roman glass, dating back to the Roman Empire (27 BCE – 395 CE). The tubular pieces are crafted from repurposed bangles, giving them a slight curve. As they are antique, there may be minor chips, but they do not affect everyday wear. (Size of round Roman glass bead: 1.1cm diameter) The striped beads are called gooseberry beads, antique beads from Venice (19th-20th century). They are named for their resemblance to redcurrant berries and have a subtle pink hue. The textured beads are brass beads created by the Benin people of Africa, featuring incredibly intricate craftsmanship. Round, faceted andesine gemstones have been incorporated.
