This is a bracelet strung with Roman glass featuring an eye motif, African carnelian, tribal brass, and turquoise, accented with a Hamsa charm. The elongated beads are Roman glass, dating back to the Roman Empire era (27 BC – 395 AD). These are fragments of vessels or other glass items that have been polished and drilled. The worn, aged atmosphere is incredibly appealing! (^^) As these were originally part of bangles, they have a slight curve. The larger pieces are adorned with an eye pattern. (Size of Roman glass with eye motif: 2.2cm wide x 0.7cm high) The oval and abacus-shaped orange beads are carnelian unearthed in Africa, dating from around the 10th century. You can enjoy the unique character of carnelian that has passed through time! Being old, they have some scratches, but this adds to their wonderful character. (Size of African carnelian: 0.9cm wide x 0.7cm diameter – for the oval pieces) The granular beads are brass beads crafted by the Benin people of Africa. They feature incredibly fine craftsmanship! The slight verdigris adds a cool touch! The slender brass beads also come from Africa; these are contemporary pieces. We've paired them with oval turquoise in a subdued hue. The hand-shaped charm is a Hamsa, used in Egyptian jewelry crafted in ateliers in the Old Cairo district. The Hamsa (Hand of Fatima or Hand of Miriam) is a common motif in the Middle East, believed to ward off the "evil eye." Hamsa means "five" in Arabic, referring to the number of fingers.
