"Deer" is an autumn seasonal word written in waka and other songs and included in songbooks. The sika deer's summer hair has a pattern of brownish-white spots, which is called Kanoko, and is also a seasonal word for summer. The image of deer in modern Japan is often attributed to “Kamika” at Nara Park and Itsukushima Shrine, but it is also an image of lovely and quiet animals that flock to the deer crackers.
