[Old Zhu Ni from Xiao Mei Yao] Aged for 30 years, the clay is refined using traditional methods and is unpolished. Fired at 1160°C with a shrinkage rate of 20%. "Xiao Mei Yao" refers to a place name approximately 5000 meters from Huanglong Mountain, not the firing kiln used for the teapot. It is named "Xiao Mei Yao" because several small kilns for firing bricks, tiles, and pottery were historically located there. Zhu Ni from Xiao Mei Yao is known for its rich oiliness and smooth texture, making it highly adhesive and challenging to work with. It experiences significant shrinkage during forming, drying, and firing, requiring a lower firing temperature and making it prone to warping, deformation, and cracking. After firing, the pieces transform from orange-red to a deep red hue, appearing warm, lustrous, and producing a beautiful tea liquor. When hot water is poured over it, it instantly reveals a delicate, enchanting red. Brewing tea with this clay results in a bright and lively infusion, exuding fragrance and sweetness. With prolonged use, the color deepens to a rich, warm, and profound red, exuding a welcoming warmth.
[Frequently Asked Questions]
1. How to prepare the teapot before first use?
Clean the inside and outside thoroughly. A soft sponge is recommended; avoid chemical cleaners. Simply rinse with water, and it's ready for use.
2. How to care for the teapot?
Keep it clean and dry during and after use to prevent tea stains. Store it in a well-ventilated area after use. For long-term storage in its box, allow it to air dry naturally for 1-2 months to ensure the pores are fully free of moisture, which prevents mold.
3. How to clean tea stains or mold?
Soak with an enzyme cleaner.
4. How to warm the teapot correctly?
In cold weather or after a long period of disuse, gently pour 40°C warm water over the inside and outside of the teapot, then fill it completely. This allows the porous clay to absorb moisture fully.
5. How to care for teapots with carved designs?
For teapots with carved inscriptions, a soft brush is recommended for cleaning.
