Material Selection "Qie Xian Pai" currently selects A-grade, high-oil vegetable-tanned leather from Italy. As a natural material, and due to the leather factory's use of less damaging vegetable-tanning processes, the leather surface may inevitably bear minor "scars," "wrinkles," or "vein marks." We endeavor to avoid these areas during cutting or place them on less visible or non-load-bearing parts of the product. 2. Pure Hand Stitching We do not use sewing machines for our products; all items are purely hand-stitched. Before stitching, special awls are used to punch stitch holes in the leather, which is how we achieve beautiful wavy stitch lines, distinct from machine stitching. While this significantly increases production time, it is a crucial step where leather artisans imbue the piece with soul and a warm, tactile feel. 3. Pure Hand Edge Finishing and Polishing Before a product is complete, the edges are meticulously finished and polished. This is to ensure the edges appear smooth, rounded, and natural. "Qie Xian Pai" employs its own unique edge-finishing method. First, sandpaper is used to repeatedly smooth the sharp edges. Then, an edge-finishing liquid is applied to create a flat appearance, repeated 2-3 times. Subsequently, a layer of edge-finishing wax is applied, followed by vigorous polishing with a burnishing tool until the edges achieve a smooth finish. 4. Hand-Dyed Leather For "Qie Xian Pai" hand-dyed products, we currently use imported Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes from the United States. To achieve even and natural coloration, we begin by slightly dampening the leather surface. Then, a sponge is used to apply the dye repeatedly, layer by layer, from light to deep, until the desired color is achieved. After drying, a fixative is applied to enhance colorfastness. The surface is also wiped with water to remove any surface dust and further even out the color. As the dyeing process is entirely by hand, subtle variations exist between the colors of each bag, making every piece unique.
