Jin Ji kintsugi, also known as Jin Jin repair, is a word composed of two words, kin is gold, and tsugi means fixed or connected. Originated in Japan in the 15th century, this technique is a repairing process in which damaged utensils such as plates, cups, and tea bowls are re-bonded with natural lacquer, and then coated with gold powder.

"Repair" is the most frequently mentioned concept of Jin Ji's craft. As a philosophy, Jin Ji regards damage and repair as part of the object's history, not as a cover. From the object's repair process, invisibly, but also transferred to the psychological level, some people retrieve lost memories, make up for broken relationships, and even soothe their damaged souls.
