In reality, gem-quality corundum found in nature, apart from red varieties called rubies, includes various colors such as blue, light blue, green, yellow, gray, and colorless, all termed sapphires, or fancy sapphires, by prefixing the color to sapphire, such as pink sapphire. The chemical composition of sapphire is Al2O3, primarily colored by Fe and Ti. The presence of trace elements like iron (Fe) and titanium (Ti) in corundum gives rise to blue, sky blue, and light blue hues. Among these, royal blue and cornflower blue, which are deep but not black, are considered the finest.
