Material: 100% Boiled Wool, Exquisite Bead Embellished Style, Non-Itchy
Dimensions: Approx. 70 x 200 cm (Due to handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and weight for each piece)
✨ The gorgeous bead embellishments paired with a serene and beautiful blue-green-coffee color palette create a sophisticated and elegant scarf that's a statement piece. It's not only warm but also adds a refined detail to your outfits.
While scarves from Kashmir, North India, might initially appear ornate with motifs like paisley and vibrant embroidery threads or beadwork, they become surprisingly understated when worn. The intricate patterns soften, leaving an impression of abstract color blocks and fragmented beauty, with numerous exquisite details to discover upon closer inspection. Therefore, we often demonstrate how our scarves look when draped or gathered into a ball, allowing you to visualize and reference their appearance when worn.
🐑 Kashmir boiled wool crafts are made from 100% wool and offer a certain degree of warmth. They are primarily categorized into three different thicknesses: sheer weave (interlaced yarn), three-layer yarn, and regular boiled wool. Among these, the "sheer weave" is the lightest and most versatile for all seasons, perfect for shielding from the sun or creating a stylish look in warmer months, and also practical for Taiwan's winter. The "three-layer yarn" is composed of three layers of wool yarn, making the center thick and the edges light and flowing, creating a dreamy effect. The thickness in the center is comparable to regular boiled wool, appearing translucent yet offering sufficient warmth, making it suitable for spring, autumn, and winter, instantly bestowing a fresh, exotic charm. The "regular" boiled wool scarves are densely thick and warm throughout, ideal for those who feel the cold easily. Wearing one in winter or during cold snaps is like carrying a small, warm sun; it can even double as a cozy blanket on the sofa. The vibrant colors are particularly striking against snowy backdrops, making for fashionable photoshoots.

Care and Maintenance Notes:
★ Each unique handmade wool artwork is created by artisans, and each piece is one-of-a-kind.
★ Handmade wool products may exhibit slight imperfections characteristic of handcrafting, unlike machine-made items that are uniformly precise. Minor yarn deviations or slight color variations might occur. If significant and visually obvious, we will highlight them in the description. If you are particularly sensitive to handmade aesthetics, please consider carefully before purchasing. For those new to handmade textiles, feel free to message us for details on specific items.
★ Please do not machine wash wool products. We recommend dry cleaning once a season. If hand washing is necessary, use a wool-specific detergent or shampoo, gently washing it separately (dark-colored items may release dye). After air-drying, you can iron it at a low temperature with a towel placed underneath (avoid direct sunlight).
★ The items we select are of a delicate, artistic, handmade quality, especially our cashmere products, which require gentle handling. Fingernails, jewelry, zippers on bags, and Velcro fasteners on clothing can easily snag the yarn, so please handle with care. While cashmere is lighter and softer, wool products are generally more resistant to friction. We select RWS-certified wool, merino wool, or use the boiled wool technique, resulting in a softness and skin-friendliness superior to standard wool. Our personal experience is that they do not cause noticeable itching. If you are particularly concerned about itching, we will indicate it, and you are welcome to message us for inquiries.
★ Each scarf comes with an eco-friendly, minimalist kraft paper box, making it suitable for gifting to your dearest ones.
Xiannv Star Selection - North Indian Kashmir Boiled Wool Handmade Embroidered Scarf/Shawl
Boiled Wool Scarf /
Due to the high altitude of the Kashmir plateau, where the boiling point is lower, a unique boiled wool technique has been developed. Repeated boiling and drying processes result in a fluffier, softer texture that is more skin-friendly than ordinary wool products. The layered yarn is thick and soft, offering excellent wind resistance, and is enhanced with meticulously selected hand-embroidered yarn in complementary colors, showcasing exquisite details (can be worn on both sides; one side features contrasting or lighter colors, while the reverse may show a few handmade yarn knots. Both sides are wearable if you don't mind the knots).
Traditional Kani /
Kani is a classic Indian weaving art (not printing). Historically, it involved weaving natural motifs like vines, flowers, paisley, and maple leaves thread by thread using wooden shuttles. A single piece could take months to complete. Nowadays, machine-woven versions are more common, requiring time-consuming hand-cutting of the weft threads on the back, leaving visible lines akin to impressionist paintings. Some people also prefer wearing these pieces on the reverse side.
Hand Embroidery /
The embroidery threads along the entire shawl are meticulously hand-stitched, thread by thread. Unlike machine embroidery, they may not be perfectly aligned or flat, but this lends them a delicate handmade charm. Filled with exquisite details, they feature motifs like vibrant vines or the auspicious paisley, symbolizing continuity and royalty, evoking a romantic bohemian garden feel.
Kalenkali Hand-Printed and Embroidered /
This combines India's renowned printing techniques with hand embroidery. The shawl features intricate, beautiful printed patterns, with colorful embroidery threads outlining the designs. The contrasting, piano-key-like border at the bottom adds to the charm, reminiscent of Kani work. This piece allows you to appreciate the rich details of two traditional crafts, making it a collectible item.
