One day, a friend asked, "What's your handcrafted book's style?" I replied, "Each one is different!" We only incorporate leather, and the more original, ecological, and natural the leather, the more we love it. We don't over-process it, designing organically and freely based on the unique edges and corners of each piece. So, I don't have a specific style... In that moment, the words "no specific style" and "no style" came to mind, and thus became the brand name. The English name "Free & Non" also stems from our spontaneous and individualistic creative approach. ◆ Design Philosophy ◆ We appreciate the raw, untamed aesthetic that comes with minimal processing. Therefore, we preserve the original form of each leather piece, cherishing and respecting the unique textures and grain patterns of every cowhide's surface. The marks left by inevitable bumps, scratches, or bites during the cow's growth are precisely what we utilize as distinguishing features, much like how we all bear the imprints of our own life journeys. We preserve the complete, raw edges of the leather, and utilize the scraps left over from each piece. Each unique handcrafted book is sewn together stitch by stitch by hand, to be shared with those of you who also appreciate documenting life's moments, big and small. This natural variation is what Free & Non chooses to embrace. ◎ Scars and shedding on the napped inner surface of genuine leather are natural phenomena and are not further processed. ◎ Slight color transfer from the leather to the first and last inner pages due to contact is normal. ◎ The products are entirely hand-stitched, and the paper is cut page by page with a blade.
