Nhanduti, in the indigenous Guarani language, means "spider web." As the name suggests, it is a delicate handicraft made with thread. Patterns are created by stretching warp threads and then weaving or knotting other threads onto them. The embroidery is stiffened with glue, and once the embroidered sections are separated from the fabric, Nhanduti is complete. The texture is quite crisp, firm enough to maintain its shape while retaining the softness of the thread material.
