White Glaze and Flowing Lapis Lazuli Yunomi

A slightly rough white clay, chosen for its ability to bring out the glaze's colors. After being shaped into a rounded yunomi (tea cup), it's coated with a lustrous white glaze, followed by a lapis lazuli blue glaze, and then fired. During firing, the two glazes meld together, creating flowing patterns. This vessel allows you to enjoy its charming rounded form and the colors woven by the glazes. When cradled in both hands, the vessel's curves nestle comfortably in your palms. The color transitions from whitish towards the middle and bottom inside, making it a beautiful vessel for enjoying the clear colors of green tea, black tea, and other transparent beverages. Of course, it's also perfect for coffee, cafe au lait, or even a small serving of soup. We invite you to enjoy it with your favorite drink. All stages of production—from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing—are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering a charm that comes from being handmade. The item you receive will be the exact one shown in the product images. The base of the cup has been carefully smoothed with sandpaper to minimize any potential scratching on your table surfaces. Please note that there is a small area with a pale green hue. This can be seen in photos 4 and 5. This is due to the influence of glaze from another piece fired alongside it and does not affect its usability. We kindly ask for your understanding. I explore various combinations of glazes and clays, constantly seeking new possibilities, and create a diverse range of pottery in both color and form. To prevent this, all our items undergo a water-sealing treatment with a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for initial soaking (mezome). This sealing process requires 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the water-sealing treatment applied, please notify us at the time of purchase. - The colors of the glaze can appear differently depending on the lighting. Under natural daylight or white light, the colors will look whiter. Under evening light or warm-toned lamps, you may notice more reddish or yellowish tones. - Cutlery shown in product images is not included. - While we strive to ensure product images accurately represent the actual item, colors may appear differently on your monitor due to variations in screen settings and lighting conditions.
