In the Old Testament's "Genesis," the story of Noah's Ark recounts how Noah knew the great flood had subsided and peace had returned when a dove he released from the ark came back with a young olive leaf. This is how the olive came to symbolize "peace" and "tranquility." An olive leaf is used in the United Nations emblem as a symbol of peace. Another of its symbolic meanings is said to originate from Greek mythology. Zeus, the all-powerful god, promised dominion over a city to whoever offered the most useful gift to its people. Athena presented the "olive," which could provide food and medicine, delighting the people, and thus Athena gained control of the city. From this, the olive, Athena's thoughtfully chosen gift, came to represent "wisdom" and "victory." As a symbol of victory, crowns made of olive leaves were used in the ancient Olympic Games. We envisioned an accessory inspired by the "olive," a symbol of happiness carrying the meanings of "peace," "tranquility," "wisdom," and "victory." We've used natural Taiwanese jade to represent olives and crafted leaves using the dip art technique, combining them to create these pieces. By varying the depth of olive tones on the front and back of the leaves, we've introduced subtle changes within a single color, and by arranging multiple Taiwanese jade pieces, we've enhanced the sense of depth.
