Made from black iron through intricate processes, these decorative folk crafts featured patterns that were not standardized but relied entirely on the artisan's inspiration. Geometric designs composed of straight lines or arcs were most common, making each window grille a unique, "hand-customized" work of art. However, as mechanical production of galvanized steel windows gradually replaced iron window grilles, their craftsmanship has nearly faded into history. To revive the beauty of these handcrafted window grilles, metal material—copper—and etching techniques were employed, thus recreating the spirit of the window grille.
