Antique Art Nouveau vase with handles by Bihl, Czechoslovakia

Pair of Art Nouveau vases with handles by Bihl, Czechoslovakia. Partially hand-painted scenic decoration depicting a lakeside landscape with cottage, trees, distant hills and flying birds, framed by rich green Art Nouveau moulded handles and stylised relief ornament. The printed landscape is enhanced with hand-painted details and finished in a glossy green glaze with natural tonal variation. Bihl operated during the time when the region was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and later Czechoslovakia. Production is generally dated circa 1910s–1930s. Condition: One vase shows age-related craquelure to the body. Both have a glazing production flaw. Both may show minor wear and light surface marks consistent with age.
