Originally produced by the Eberhard Faber company from 1934 to 1988, this pencil gained renown not only for its elegant design and smooth writing experience but also for its use by many prominent contemporary writers and artists. - The Blackwing pencils available today are faithfully recreated by the American company Palomino. It is said that the original, classic formula for the eraser and graphite core has been preserved, perfectly bringing back this once-celebrated pencil. - In addition to the iconic 602 model, Palomino has introduced several pencils with different graphite lead grades for enthusiasts. Based on our testing and comparison, the black barrel pencil is approximately 4B in softness, the white barrel is around 2B, the grey 602 is a B, and the natural wood color is HB. Due to the softer nature of their graphite, each pencil offers a satisfying depth of tone. - The eraser at the end is another distinct feature that sets the Blackwing apart from ordinary pencils. It utilizes a small metal ferrule that not only holds the eraser in place but also allows the worn eraser to be pushed further out, offering a replaceable design.
