💎 This scarf features a tonal grey yarn splice, adorned with subtle blue bead accents for a harmonious look. The gradient embroidery in white and light green adds a touch of understated luxury and sophistication, with details that invite closer appreciation.
While Kashmiri scarves from Northern India may appear ornate at first glance, featuring paisley patterns and vibrant embroidery or beadwork, they transform into a more subdued accessory when worn. The patterns become less conspicuous, leaving behind an impression of color blocks and fragmented beauty, revealing intricate details that are a joy to discover. We often showcase our scarves styled as they would be worn, or gathered into a ball, to help you visualize their appearance.
🐑 Kashmir boiled wool craftsmanship utilizes 100% wool and offers significant warmth. There are primarily three different thicknesses: Sheer Gauze (Spliced Yarn), Three-Layer Gauze, and Regular Boiled Wool. The "Sheer Gauze" is the lightest, ideal for all seasons—use it to shield from the sun and style outfits in spring and summer, and it remains a refined, practical choice for Taiwan's winters. The "Three-Layer Gauze" is composed of three layers of wool yarn, creating a thicker center with light, flowing edges for a dreamy effect. Its middle thickness rivals that of regular boiled wool, appearing delicate yet offering ample warmth, perfect for spring, autumn, and winter to instantly embrace a fresh, exotic charm. The "Regular" boiled wool scarves are thick and warm throughout, ideal for those who feel the cold easily, providing warmth like a little sun in winter and during cold snaps. They are also suitable as a cozy blanket for winter evenings on the sofa. The vibrant color palettes pair beautifully with snowy landscapes, making for stunning fashion photos.

Care and Preservation Notes:
★ Each unique handmade wool artwork is individually crafted by artisans; no two are exactly alike.
★ Handmade wool products may exhibit subtle imperfections characteristic of handcrafted items, unlike machine-made uniformity. Minor yarn shifts or slight variations in dye may occur. If significant flaws are present and clearly visible, they will be noted and photographed. Please consider carefully if you are sensitive to the nuances of handmade items; feel free to inquire about specific details before purchasing if you are new to handmade textiles.
★ Wool products should not be machine washed. Dry cleaning once per season is recommended. If hand washing, use wool-specific detergent or shampoo and gently wash separately (darker colors may bleed slightly). Air dry, and if necessary, iron on a low setting with a towel between the iron and the fabric (avoid direct sunlight).
★ We select items that are of a refined, artistic quality, especially cashmere products, which require gentle handling. Fingernails, jewelry, bag hardware, zippers, and velcro can easily snag the yarn, so handle with care. While cashmere is lighter and softer, our wool products are more resistant to friction. We specifically choose virgin wool, lamb's wool, or boiled wool for their superior softness and skin-friendliness compared to standard wool. Our personal experience indicates minimal itching; if you are particularly sensitive, this will be indicated, or feel free to contact us for further details.
★ Each item comes with an eco-friendly, minimalist kraft paper box, gift-wrapped, perfect for presenting to your loved ones.
Fairy Star Selects - Northern Indian Kashmir Boiled Wool Embroidered Scarf/Shawl
Boiled Wool Scarf /
Due to the high altitude of the Kashmir plateau and its lower boiling point, a special boiled wool technique has been developed. Repeated boiling and drying processes result in wool that is fluffier, softer, and more skin-friendly than ordinary wool products. The multi-layered yarn offers excellent thickness and wind resistance, enhanced by meticulously color-matched hand-embroidered yarn for exquisite detail (reversible, with one side featuring a different or lighter hue; the reverse side may have a few hand-tied yarn knots. Both sides can be worn if this is acceptable).
Kani Old Craft /
Kani is a classical Indian weaving art (not printing). Traditionally, artisans used wooden shuttles to weave intricate patterns of vines, flowers, paisley, and maple leaves, with each piece taking months to complete. Modern, more common versions are machine-woven, requiring time-consuming hand-cutting of the weft threads on the reverse side, leaving visible threads that resemble impressionist paintings. Some also prefer to wear these pieces on the reverse.
Hand Embroidery /
The embroidery on these shawls is meticulously hand-stitched thread by thread, lacking the precise uniformity of machine work but possessing a distinct handcrafted charm. Every detail is exquisitely delicate, featuring vibrant vines or the 'paisley' motif symbolizing eternity and royalty, evoking a bohemian garden romance.
Kalenkali Hand Block Print & Embroidery /
This technique combines India's renowned block printing artistry with hand embroidery. Beautiful, intricate patterns are block-printed across the shawl, with colorful embroidery outlining each motif. The color-blocked piano borders at the bottom echo the charm of Kani weaving, showcasing a rich tapestry of detailed, colorful craftsmanship—a delightful fusion of two traditional arts, worthy of collection.
