There is a flower named after a famous female writer from the Heian period.
This plant, which has been native to Japan for a long time and is beloved for its glossy purple berries, is the Japanese beautyberry.
The Japanese beautyberry blooms with pale pink flowers from June to July and bears vibrant, beautiful glossy purple berries in the autumn from September to November.
Its scientific name is "Callicarpa japonica," derived from the Greek words "callos" (beautiful) and "carpos" (fruit), referring to its beautifully colored berries.
In English, it is also known as "Japanese beautyberry."
The symbolic meanings associated with the Japanese beautyberry are "intelligence," "elegance," and "skillful in being loved."
"Intelligence" and "elegance" are said to be inspired by Murasaki Shikibu herself, a renowned scholar, while "skillful in being loved" is believed to originate from her masterpiece, "The Tale of Genji."
We were inspired by this Japanese beautyberry to create an accessory.
Two pale pink flowers and one leaf crafted with the dip art technique are adorned with five amethyst stones, chosen to resemble the purple berries.
These amethysts, each 4mm in size, are similar in dimension to the actual berries of the Japanese beautyberry plant.
We invite you to adorn your ears with these accessories, inspired by the Japanese beautyberry with its vibrant, glossy purple berries, and step out in style.
