→ Ru Ware
Renowned as the foremost of the Five Great Kilns of the Song Dynasty, Ru ware is celebrated for its lustrous glaze, resembling solidified cream, and its elegant, understated beauty. It was the epitome of Song Dynasty sophistication.
Our Ru porcelain is produced with a carefully controlled iron content and reduction, resulting in a body of ash grey and a glaze that shifts between sky blue and celadon under varying light. The iron-rimmed mouth presents a harmonious blend of clay and glaze, while the delicate, scale-like crackles on the surface deepen and become more lustrous upon contact with tea and continued use.

The design concept for this "Fangyun Cup" by Ziran You Wenchuang (Natural Glaze Creative) harmoniously blends traditional and modern elements. Its dimensions are designed to complement our Maze Dripper, offering the option of purchasing them together.
The straight cylindrical body not only conveys a sense of clean lines and directness but also provides a large, flat surface area that fully showcases the characteristics of each unique glaze, allowing the special qualities of different glazes to shine.
The flared rim, a traditional cup form with a long history, offers both aesthetic appeal and functional elegance. This subtly outward-curving rim is designed to perfectly conform to the lips, enhancing the sensory experience as the beverage glides from the cup into the mouth.
The square handle, another classic design element, has been thoughtfully reinterpreted from its traditional form. We've adopted a design with a flat top and an angled bottom, creating a distinct visual profile while ensuring a comfortable and secure grip.
Our Fangyun Cup, with its moderate 240ml capacity, is highly versatile for brewing tea or drip coffee bags. A subtle detail enhances its usability: an internal crease on the wall, positioned around the 200ml mark, provides a simple visual cue for measuring the volume, making usage more intuitive.
This design, with its expansive, uninterrupted flat surface on the cup wall, provided the artisan with greater freedom to explore the possibilities of glaze application. Many pieces feature a captivating, layered effect achieved through the masterful stacking of three distinct glaze layers, resulting in truly stunning creations.
