Daphne H.C. Shen is an artist based in the UK, whose greatest joy lies in her creative pursuits. Even amidst a demanding work schedule, she perseveres with her passion for art and continues to create. Daphne has long struggled with insomnia, and she finds solace in her art, using it to express the myriad thoughts swirling in her mind. In her creative process, she approaches each piece as a challenge, pushing her boundaries. This approach imbues her work from different periods with distinct characteristics, yet each style powerfully reflects the collisions, conflicts, and contradictions within her personality. She finds it difficult to express herself directly, so she hopes her artwork can convey her inner state. The piece, <Germination>, was exhibited at Long White Cloud, an art exhibition space, after Daphne completed her Master's degree at the University of the Arts London. As someone who suffers from insomnia, she imagines her brain being overrun by sleepless cells. Thus, she takes on the role of a doctor, examining herself.
