The Zodiac is the twelve animals used by the Chinese nation to represent the year. Animals are also often used in naming people, movies, Chinese medicinal materials and plants; but did you know that the Chinese zodiac signs also appear in Taiwan's native plants?
Most plants named after animals are named according to their morphological characteristics and usage methods. It's the Year of the Tiger. Let's get to know the native or unique plants named "Tiger" on our beautiful island!

There are six native Taiwanese plants named after tigers on the front of the card. The content includes:
"Trinity Tripterocarp"
Hiptage benghalensis (L.) Kurz.
The tigertail vine is generally called the samurai vine. In the use of the ethnic plants of the Paiwan people, it is used as one of the indicators of age. When the samurai vine fruit matures and falls, it is the best time to plant taro. Putting up a new red-leaf outfit for the broad-leaved forest, so the name "Red Dragon" went away. The resulting samara has three wings, and the mature samara when it falls off rotates like the propeller of an airplane. It is also called "kite fruit, windmill vine".

Taiwan's three-star fruit vines are native to the coastal forests of Hengchun Peninsula and Lanyu. Three star-shaped rice-shaped samaras are pasted back to back into one body, so they are called three-star fruit vines, also known as star fruit vines or vines. Sex acerola, this should be the plant named after the tiger in the southernmost part of Taiwan. Because a large amount of land development and environmental damage have become rare in Taiwan's native land, it has been included in the endangered species of conservation plants.

Dajiacao is a famous snake medicine among folks. Because of its fierce nature, the five tigers descend the mountain, so it is called the five tigers descending the mountain. Taiwan Euphorbia is an endemic species, and wild plants can be seen in low-altitude areas in the west. In recent years, many people have used it for medicinal cultivation.

On the stone wall next to the Great Buddha Temple on the outskirts of the famous historical and cultural city of "Langzhong City" in Sichuan, the two characters "Tiger Creek" are engraved. In the Palace of Medicine King, because the tiger’s leg disease was cured by it, it was called "Polygonum cuspidatum". As for whether Sun Simiao really cured tiger’s leg problems with Polygonum cuspidatum, it is impossible to examine it. However, among Chinese medicine, Polygonum cuspidatum is indeed a good medicine for treating joint diseases blindly.

The red bead vine of the Rubiaceae family is also known as the small leaf umbrella flower vine or the small leaf umbrella flower vine.
