Daai Si Wong Postcard

/Cheung Chau Bamboo Scaffolding Postcard/ A traditional festival in Cheung Chau, held annually on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month. The festival originates from an ancient plague that struck Cheung Chau, leading residents to hold the Tai Ping Ching Chiu (Peaceful Offering Festival) and fast for three days, praying for divine protection. During the festival, residents erect three giant bun mountains, three statues of Daai Si Wong (King of Great Worthies), and stages for sacred operas to honor the deities.
