Vegetable-tanned leather also deepens in color with frequent use, gradually developing a caramel hue over time. • Like human skin, natural leather has pores. It will absorb water on contact, and faint watermarks may appear after air-drying, which is a natural phenomenon. The piece is treated with maintenance oil upon completion to reduce absorption of moisture or stains. • Avoid prolonged exposure to water. If accidentally wet, air dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. • Light scuffs can be gently wiped with a clean cotton cloth.
