Such meticulous craftsmanship is rare compared to the more common polished or waxed finishes found on the market (natural grain, quality items shipped randomly). The fountain pen is complemented by gunmetal gray electroplated clip and accessories, featuring a barrel-shaped, airtight twist-lock cap design and a uniquely molded clip with a special spring mechanism, making it a joy to hold and use. The nib is a German Bock #250 (#6) standard titanium nib, handcrafted and expertly tuned by Old Goat artisans into a calligraphy nib capable of producing variable line widths. Hand-ground and Tuned Calligraphy Nib: 1. For calligraphy nibs, it is recommended to initially dip the nib in ink for writing (do not remove the converter installed in the pen barrel; this prevents ink from flowing back into the pen body after writing). After a period of breaking in the nib's characteristics, you can then use the converter for inking and writing. 2. The calligraphy nib is crafted by grinding and adjusting an EF nib to have a curved tip that produces line width variations not solely through pressure, but by the angle of the pen. When holding the pen upright, less of the nib tip contacts the paper, resulting in a finer line. As the pen angle becomes more oblique or with slight pressure, a larger area of the nib tip contacts the paper, producing a thicker line. The ability to write both thick and thin lines depends on your proficiency (each nib can withstand a certain degree of pressure; avoid excessive force to prevent nib damage or misalignment.
