This pendant originates from the Art Deco period in France, circa the 1930s. Based on its design and inscriptions, it is believed to be crafted from currency issued by Argentina between 1860 and 1900. The reverse of the coin retains part of the inscription "ARGENTINA," while the obverse features a flowing-haired woman wearing a soft cap. This figure represents Libertad, the personification of freedom in Argentine culture. Following Argentina's successful independence in 1816 after centuries of Spanish colonization, Libertad's imagery became prominent on currency and national symbols. Notably, the soft cap Libertad wears is a Phrygian cap, also seen on Marianne, the allegorical figure of Liberty in the iconic painting "Liberty Leading the People."
