About the Artist: Artist: Master Yu Hua-Yu Born in 1980, his fascination with the mysterious art of pottery on the wheel began in junior high school and has remained unforgettable. After his military service, he moved to Yingge alone, apprenticing under Masters Wu Guo-Rong and Wu Jian-Cai, laying a solid foundation in wheel-throwing and firing techniques. After establishing his studio, he dedicated himself to meticulous research and development. During this period, he received accolades such as the Gold Award in the Cultural and Creative Expo of the Taiwan Golden Pot Award Ceramic Design Competition and the Excellence Award from the Tainan City Craft and Creative Promotion Association. He is currently a contemporary young Taiwanese ceramic artist. Over more than twenty years, Master Yu has mastered the properties of various clays, infusing them with his creative vision to blend tradition with modernity, developing series such as the Iridescent Shino, the Stone Mineral, and the Purple Clay Cloud-Mist series. During this time, Master Yu also successfully recreated the firing techniques of Song Dynasty celadon! His crackled series imitates the Song Dynasty wood-firing technique, firing continuously for 5 days and 4 nights at temperatures above 1260°C. After turning to ash, the natural ash-fall creates the "crackled" Song Dynasty celadon, which is astonishing.
