An SDGs-conscious ring featuring kintsugi, upcycling Arita porcelain. Broken or chipped ceramic pieces, no longer in use, are repurposed and adorned with kintsugi to be reborn as accessories. Our concept is to reconnect people with nature and Japan's enduring traditions, creating modern accessories that bridge the past and future, fostering new possibilities. The ceramic fragment, featuring an elegant Japanese pattern, is enhanced with Larimar and freshwater pearls. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the fragment, allowing the gold to subtly gleam from any angle, adding a touch of refined beauty. The accompanying chain is made of surgical stainless steel with 18K coating, making it hypoallergenic and resistant to discoloration, gentle on the skin. The chain length is 40cm with an additional 5cm adjuster. This work utilizes a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Instead of traditional urushi lacquer made from tree sap, we use a new, less allergenic type of artificial lacquer and gold powder (brass powder).
