In 1897, Princess Sisi was crowned Queen of Hungary here, and Empress of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. · Perhaps it's the confluence of these reasons that gives my perception of this place such a strong filter. Many years have passed, and I remain deeply captivated by all things Budapest. This lively, beautiful, and vibrant city. After my fifth trip to Budapest, I finally painted this scene. It's a sketch I've held onto for a long time, and I eagerly anticipate our reunion. · Originally, I wanted to name this stamp "The Coronation Era," taking its literal meaning as Matthias Church is the coronation site for Princess Sisi and past Hungarian kings, hence it's also known as the Coronation Church. However, in my impression, Budapest isn't such a solemn and stately place. Here, one doesn't need the same level of etiquette as when wandering through Vienna. What I wanted to express more were sensory signals of freedom and romance. Because of this unconventional building, because of the Romantic composer Liszt, and because of the little princess who yearned for freedom— it had to be "Over the Rainbow"! · By the way, I especially love the pointed spire and bell tower added in the 15th century. It broke away from the strict symmetrical rules of Gothic architecture, yet it retains incredible detail. If you visit Fisherman's Bastion, I recommend climbing to the top, and also visiting the terrace café at the main bastion for photos. You can unlock a fairytale-like Budapest.💖
