In 2017, we took over a leather goods factory in Miaoli on the brink of closure. With no prior experience, we gradually learned the craft of leatherworking. We fell in love with the way genuine leather transforms over time, developing a warm sheen and a unique patina. It is this passion that keeps the rhythmic hammering of the factory echoing in Miaoli. About Our Cowhide| ◆Vegetable-Tanned Leather This refers to leather treated with natural agents, resulting in a warm hue and visible pores. Compared to chemically treated leather, it has a milder scent. Its characteristic is that it becomes more lustrous with use, evolving into a style entirely different from its initial appearance. This transformation process is sometimes referred to as "leather nurturing." This type of leather, which changes color with use, is favored by a segment of consumers. Vegetable-tanned leather also comes in grades; the richer the oil content and the fewer the scars, the higher the grade and price. Premium vegetable-tanned leather primarily originates from Europe, where most of RamahLeatherware's leather comes from, with a small portion from South America. Please air dry as soon as possible. - Cowhide naturally has some scars, much like human skin. Scars are more apparent in leather treated with natural agents. Please view these scars rationally; RamahLeatherware has already avoided over 90% of them. ◆Care Instructions - No additional maintenance is required with regular use. If stored for extended periods, it is prone to mold in Taiwan's humid climate. Please store in a dry, well-ventilated environment or a dehumidifier box. ◆If the leather gets wet, avoid direct sunlight or using a hairdryer. Rapid drying can make the leather brittle. Allow it to air dry naturally. If accidentally soaked, watermarks will be noticeable. Other Notes| • Leather thickness does not determine quality; all leather is processed through splitting. • Handmade items are not perfect; please consider carefully before purchasing if you are a perfectionist. • Vegetable-tanned leather is soft and prone to scratches.
