There are two native species of Phalaenopsis orchids in Taiwan. The Phalaenopsis bellina, known as the "Peach Pink Phalaenopsis," is found only on Xiaolanyu Island. The other is the Phalaenopsis amabilis var. aphrodite, often referred to as "Taiwan Grandma." Why is the Phalaenopsis amabilis var. aphrodite called "Taiwan Grandma"? Its scientific name is Phalaenopsis amabilis var. aphrodite (Reichb. f.)
