Mini Buddhist altar, Ash 2025

This is the smallest type of Buddhist altar among ZEROSSO's altars and is called an "Ochuushi." This is based on the size of a piece we made previously, which was made in response to a customer's request for space to fit just the memorial tablet. It can be used as a shrine to hold the principal image or Buddha, as well as a mini Buddhist altar. The double doors do not use hinges, but rather rotate by inserting metal pins from above and below, which gives the area around the doors a very clean look. There are no handles; instead, you open the doors by hooking your fingers around the bottom edge of each door. Magnets are built into the door and the main body, so the door closes tightly. If you use solid wood for the door, it will inevitably have problems opening and closing due to temperature and humidity. There is also concern that the door may warp. Since this structure means that the door cannot be easily removed, it is necessary to minimize such problems. Therefore, we solved this problem by sandwiching a thin core material between thin boards on both sides to create a homemade plywood. The door bulges toward the bottom center, and has a groove at the bottom edge for your fingers to hook onto. The main body is made of ash, with walnut used for the base and core material of the doors. The contrast between light and dark colors creates a modern impression.
