Artwork Introduction_ This handsome engraving is from Francis Orpen Morris's A History of British Birds, published in 1864, by artist Alexander Francis Lydon Collaborate on interior illustrations. Morris was an Anglo-Irish clergyman known as a "parson naturalist" (ornithologist and entomologist) and the author of many children's books and books on natural history and heritage architecture. He was a pioneer in the movement to protect birds from the feather trade and co-founded the Feather Alliance. Morris's books are mostly published by Groombridge & Sons, of London.
