He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Bristol, UK, in 1995. In 1989, he began teaching in the Department of Business Administration at the Hong Kong Polytechnic (later The Hong Kong Polytechnic University), where he served until 2011, holding the position of Associate Professor in the School of Accounting and Finance.
