Weiwuying X Croter Illustration Series 2024 Letterpress Wall Calendar

Weiwuying is turning 5! From celebrating the anniversary in 1.0, reimagining possibilities in 2.0, embracing dawn in 3.0, and unleashing potential in 4.0, to reaching our fifth year, we've discussed venue operations, international connections, and arts promotion. This year, we focus on "people." The number "five" signifies fundamental elements, like the "five elements" in ancient philosophy. It also symbolizes freedom, independence, adaptability, determination, adventure, and courage. After five years of refinement, Weiwuying has become a cultural sanctuary in Southern Taiwan, embodying collective consciousness and a vibrant image. This year's theme, "Weiwuying People," is brought to life through abstract human figures, architectural elements, and natural motifs. Exquisite Letterpress Printing The wall calendar features collectible art prints and monthly calendar pages, all produced with letterpress printing. The art prints utilize three-color layering for a sense of depth and dimension. Letterpress printing, a time-honored technique, involves inking movable type or relief plates and pressing them onto paper. The resulting embossed texture and the interplay of ink are what lend these pieces their captivating charm. Eco-Friendly Paper The wall calendar is crafted from Japanese recycled grey board, while the monthly pages are made from recycled proofing paper. This calendar is designed with a commitment to zero waste and environmental sustainability. Illustrator Croter Croter Hung Tien-Hsien is a freelance designer and illustrator who skillfully blends various illustration styles with design. He uses black humor and surrealism to convey human nature and societal realities, continuing his artistic journey. The 2024 calendar marks his third collaboration with Weiwuying. Classic Paper Artistry PAPERWORK, the parent company of this project, has 20 years of experience in the printing industry, specializing in combining beautiful paper with diverse printing techniques to create exquisite printed materials.
