In 1952, the Japanese government designated Amita Damascene Co., Ltd. as an export retail store (duty-free shop), which produced many products for export to the West. As a result, the director was able to collect some Japanese products from the West. The origin of metal inlay can be traced back to Damascus, the capital of Syria, more than 2,000 years ago. It was later brought to the Iberian Peninsula (today's Spain and Portugal) with the invasion of the Moors in the early eighth century, and was also introduced to Japan through the Silk Road during the same period.
