Ancient West Asian Lotus 3-Eye Bead

Excavated artifact. Buried ancient bead. Classified under the West Asian bead system (Myanmar, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.). Lotus 3-eye motif. One of the eyes has a chip, but the etching is visible to be deep within the bead at the chipped area. A motif not found in Tibetan Dzi beads, but common in West Asian beads. The bead was first dyed black, then etched with white lines. This coloring technique is clearly the opposite of Tibetan Dzi beads. Current market prices also differ by a hundred to a thousand times... Features include agate iridescence, shrinkage cracks, diffusion cracks, ice cracks, and color changes under UV light due to black dye ions, all indicative of burial. *************************** West Asian beads not only feature primitive totems of nature worship (mountains, rivers, sun, moon, stars, lightning...), but also Hindu and Buddhist motifs.
