At Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio, we don't pursue mass production. Each creation is born from unique ideas, imbuing pure hand-pinching or wheel-throwing processes with life. Every piece is one of a kind. Our works are a collaboration between my husband and I, hence the "Ping" or "Fan" inscriptions. Some pieces also feature the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio" stamp – truly unique!

**1. What is the origin of the works?**
We primarily use clay from the USA, Japan, and Miaoli, Taiwan, for our creations.

**2. What is the wood firing process?**
American, Japanese, and Miaoli clay are mixed in different proportions. The creation process involves hand-pinching (not using a pottery wheel) to gradually form the piece. After basic shaping, the form is refined, then polished to complete the greenware.
Once in the kiln, it undergoes a five-day, four-night continuous wood firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. Temperatures reach over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the work, forming a unique ash glaze. Simultaneously, the kiln's flame patterns dance across the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire marks.
After five days and four nights of ash and flame interplay, the pieces require a week to cool down before revealing their stunning form. Because the kiln atmosphere differs with each firing, the ash glaze and fire patterns on every piece are unique, making each work truly inimitable!

**3. What should guests be aware of?**
Product colors may vary slightly due to photography lighting. As each piece is handmade, there will be traces of the crafting process. Slight variations may also occur due to firing, such as a slightly uneven rim or minor production scratches, which are normal and do not affect usability. We appreciate your understanding!
