❐ About the Postcard
∎ Creation Process
This artwork is inspired by a life-sized photo taken by "The Tree Projects" team from Australia of a Taiwan red cypress, which stands up to 70 meters tall in the mountains of Chiayi, Taiwan. The Rukai people once referred to the Taiwan red cypress as the "tree that collided with the moon," hence the idea of merging the Taiwan red cypress with the moon. While the proportions of the cypress tree may not reveal intricate details in the image, during the drawing process, even the leaves of the cypress are meticulously rendered to create a multi-layered effect. The beauty of life is not easily conveyed in shadow, so in order for everyone to see some details clearly, this image is presented in two variations, depicting the vitality of the Taiwan red cypress as it stands tall on this land in the darkness of night.
