These are SDGs jewelry pieces featuring Kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Fukukikama, a kiln based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, known for Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery. Broken or chipped ceramics that would otherwise be discarded are given new life through Kintsugi and fashioned into accessories. The concept behind these pieces is to foster a connection with nature and Japan's enduring traditions, transforming them into modern accessories that look towards the future, creating new possibilities. We've paired fragments of grey and brown pottery with striking tiger's eye. The sides of the pottery shards are adorned with Kintsugi, allowing the gold to shimmer beautifully from every angle, adding a touch of refined elegance. These pieces sway gently with your movement, adding a vibrant flourish to your ears. They serve as a perfect accent for both casual and elegant outfits. This work uses a modern, simplified Kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional Kintsugi which uses natural lacquer derived from the urushi tree, this method uses adhesive for the initial bonding.
