Jiao Tai Ceramic Plate — Intimidating Red Panda

"Jiao Tai," meaning the combination of different clays, refers to each color within the ceramic piece being a distinct type of colored porcelain clay. These colored clays are kneaded into long strips or rolled into flat sheets, then arranged into columns according to various patterns, resembling fish cakes or sushi rolls. After being sliced vertically, multiple pieces are assembled together, then patted and rolled flat before being shaped into vessels. After semi-drying, the body is trimmed and bisque fired at 850°C. The bisque ware is then sanded with sandpaper, coated with a thin transparent glaze, and fired at a high temperature of 1230°C. Due to the Jiao Tai technique, patterns appear on both sides of the vessel. The patterns also deform, creating distorted or flowing effects during the flattening and shaping process, which is a unique characteristic of the Jiao Tai technique, making it lively and engaging. As tableware, these pieces bring a touch of playfulness to everyday life, displayed on the dining table amidst meals.
