Ñandutí, in the local Guaraní language, means "spiderweb." As the name suggests, it is a delicate handicraft created with thread. A base thread is stretched, and other threads are woven or knotted onto it to create patterns. After starching and stiffening the embroidery, the Ñandutí is completed by detaching the embroidered section from the fabric. It has a somewhat crisp texture, firm enough to maintain its shape while retaining the soft feel of the threads.
