Chawan

This tea bowl was made in my small pottery workshop here in Taiwan. I used local Taiwanese clay and then placed the pot in a wood-fired kiln. I used iron oxide brush strokes to add some interest. During the firing, the bowl was placed on a slightly cooler shelf area. The glaze effect wasn't what I wanted, so I refired the chawan in my kiln and raised the temperature. This caused the glaze to fully melt and turn glossy. The tea bowl is now a worthy one to be in my shop. Be the owner of a handmade tea bowl, made on the beautiful island of Taiwan.
