While aged materials are stable, minor warping is possible and does not affect usability. The surface bears traces of human use, contributing to the aged patina and a sense of history. The wood may have extremely fine cracks or small pits, most of which are visually noticeable and have been repaired. Areas that cannot be polished have been left intentionally to preserve the original nostalgic and vintage character. Camphor trees are widely distributed in Taiwan, found naturally from altitudes of 200 to 2,000 meters. In the past, camphor wood was not highly valued, primarily used for extracting camphor oil for export, with only a small portion used for carving statues and crafts due to its excellent material properties. Its use in furniture was less common because camphor wood tends to warp and be unstable when cut into thin slices. In recent years, Taiwanese camphor wood has gained recognition for the camphor mushroom (Antrodia cinnamomea) that grows within its hollowed trunks. Dubbed the "Ruby of the Forest," this wild mushroom is known for its significant medicinal properties and is used as a precious traditional Chinese medicine, leading to a surge in its price. This has resulted in frequent timber theft cases, and consequently, the government has long prohibited the logging of camphor trees. Please avoid exposing the notebook to direct sunlight or excessively dry environments, as this can cause the wood to crack. Keep it dry. Maintenance: Do not clean with chemical detergents, as the wood will absorb them. Wipe with a paper towel or use fine-grit sandpaper to remove stains.
