TAPANI: 3952 Old Goat - Named after the ancient place name of Yu-Ching, Tainan, Taiwan, this is a high-quality basic writing model. Carefully selected golden sandalwood with a high-definition, high-gloss surface treatment. High-definition and high-gloss involves repeatedly applying clear lacquer, polishing, and buffing until the pores formed over years in the wood grain surface are filled with clear lacquer, requiring at least dozens of coats. This high-definition, high-gloss technique results in a smoother surface, providing a better writing feel and making the exquisite wood grain appear more three-dimensional and distinct. It also makes the surface easier to maintain, protecting the wooden body from accidental ink stains. However, this process incurs higher costs. Both high-definition, high-gloss and standard finishes have their own charm, catering to different tastes. The Old Goat fountain pen is sincerely offered to you, and we appreciate your support. The high-definition, high-gloss finish resembles the luster of wood trim in luxury car interiors, with a mirror-like sheen and a particularly substantial feel. Most finishes on the market are simply polished or waxed, making this meticulous process exceptionally rare. (Natural grain, high-quality random shipment). The pen features a flame-pattern engraved, airtight cap, gunmetal gray electroplated finish and accessories, and a spring-loaded clip engraved with the 3952 brand logo.
The nib is a German Bock #180 (#5) small standard titanium nib, hand-ground and adjusted into a calligraphy nib by Old Goat artisans. Compared to steel nibs, calligraphy titanium nibs offer more flexibility and a responsive writing feel, allowing you to enjoy a unique writing experience.
**Gift Set Includes:** German SCHMIDT K2 ink converter (no ink) + a handmade black genuine leather pen sleeve by a Taiwanese master craftsman (style shipped randomly) + 3952 Old Goat wooden pen box packaging.
**Fountain Pen Dimensions:** Weight approximately 37 grams, length when capped 143mm, length from nib to end of barrel 125mm, diameter 12mm.
**Hand-Adjusted Calligraphy Nib:**
1. For writing with a calligraphy nib, it is generally recommended to first dip it in ink and allow it to break in for a period before using the ink converter.
2. If you experience skipping when using the ink converter, check the angle of your grip. Ensure both iridium dots land on the paper simultaneously; do not write with one side predominantly. If skipping persists, check if paper fibers or debris are stuck to the nib.
3. Remove the ink converter and try filling the pen by capillary action.
4. Wash the nib thoroughly. If you write with one iridium dot leading or apply excessive pressure, the iridium dots can become misaligned, creating a height difference between them. This can cause scratching and lead to paper debris accumulating in the gap.
5. Calligraphy nibs are made by adjusting EF nibs into an arched shape. Line width variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by the angle of your pen hold, utilizing the arc of the nib tip to create different line thicknesses. Holding the pen more upright, with less contact area between the nib and paper, produces finer lines. The more you tilt the pen, the greater the contact area, resulting in broader strokes. The ability to write both broadly and finely depends on your skill and practice.
In response to environmental protection, we do not proactively provide paper bags. If you require gift packaging, please specify this in the notes after placing your order. Thank you.

Note: Regularly wipe and maintain the pen body and the inside of the cap. When not in use, do not store the pen with the nib pointing downwards for extended periods.
Gentle Reminder: Avoid pressing down on the nib or writing with a skewed angle (for right-handed users, it's recommended to hold the pen so the nib points towards the 10 or 11 o'clock direction) to prevent accidental misalignment of the iridium dots, which can cause scratching and ink skipping. The nib should be rinsed with clean water regularly to prevent ink blockage and maintain writing quality.
