KAVALAN: 3952 Old Goat - Urushi Lacquer Pen (Raden Series). Hand-applied layers of natural lacquer with a red and black *raden* technique create a finish reminiscent of a koi's scales, lifelike and vivid. This unique technique ensures each pen's pattern is distinct, making it a one-of-a-kind collectible. The urushi lacquer body offers a special warmth, smooth and lustrous like jade, with a simple beauty that makes it a joy to hold. The pen is complemented by gunmetal grey electroplated hardware and a special spring-loaded clip design. Features a German Bock #250 (#6) rose gold nib, available in Extra Fine (EF), Fine (F), Medium (M), and Broad (B). This nib offers more flexibility than typical steel nibs, providing a responsive writing experience that showcases your unique taste. For smaller or more compact handwriting, an EF or F nib is recommended. If you prefer larger characters or are looking for a reliable signature pen, an M or B nib would be suitable. For calligraphy nibs, it is recommended to start by dipping the nib in ink for writing (do not remove the converter installed in the barrel; this prevents ink from flowing back into the pen body after writing). After a period of use, you can then use the converter to fill with ink. 2. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib that has been ground and adjusted to a curved tip. Line variation is achieved not by applying pressure, but by the angle at which you hold the pen, utilizing the curve of the nib's tip to create different line widths. Holding the pen more upright results in less contact area with the paper, producing finer lines. A more angled or slightly pressured hold increases the contact area, resulting in thicker lines. The ability to write thick or thin lines depends on your proficiency (each nib has a limit to the pressure it can withstand; do not apply excessive force, as this may damage or misalign the nib. It is recommended to place a soft writing pad underneath the paper for better support). In support of environmental protection, we do not proactively provide paper bags. This can prevent iridium point misalignment, leading to scratching or ink flow issues. The nib should be rinsed with clean water regularly to prevent ink build-up and blockage, which can affect writing quality.
