Antique Finger Nibs - Set of Three Collector's Dip Pen Nibs - Made in Italy

Finger nibs are still produced by some pen manufacturers today. However, due to their materials and design, they can present a somewhat challenging writing experience. After many years of collecting, I've gathered three distinct finger nibs, now presented as a set and shared exclusively with you here on Pinkoi. These vintage Italian finger nibs feature finer writing lines. Yet, owing to their material composition, they possess a pleasing flexibility. The indented finger rest and the cuff-like design enhance ink capacity, mitigating the issue of ink flow interruption after just a few strokes. While they are decorative nibs, they cannot be directly compared to the writing performance of typical vintage nibs. Nevertheless, they are perfectly suitable for general daily writing. These nibs were taken directly from their original packaging for writing and photography, without any prior scrubbing or cleaning. Therefore, it's highly probable that their writing performance will improve after a period of use. The collectible set offered here hails from Italy in the 1920s-1930s. The craftsmanship and materials from that era, before the impact of World War II preparations, were considered top-tier choices during the peaceful interwar period. The finger rest is positioned at the rear of the nib, and the cuff-like design around the shank can also aid in holding a small amount of ink, extending writing duration. The variations in these cuff designs add to the collectible appeal. A personal writing experience: Due to their finer point, finger nibs require a lighter touch. Their ink capacity is not comparable to standard nibs, thus requiring some time and practice to adapt. As for control, it gradually improves from left to right. Naturally, these three nibs were used for the first time during testing; extended use and practice will undoubtedly bring about changes. Furthermore, the testing used JH's Pearl Black ink. Using dip pen specific inks or thicker inks should effectively improve ink flow and enhance control.
