TAPANI: 3952 Lao Shanyang - Named after an ancient place name in YuJing, Tainan, Taiwan, this is a high-quality basic writing model. Selected Red Sandalwood with a high-definition, high-gloss surface treatment. The high-definition, high-gloss process involves repeatedly applying and polishing transparent lacquer until the pores formed in the wood grain over time are filled. This requires at least dozens of applications of lacquer. This technique results in a flatter surface, a more satisfying feel when writing, and makes the exquisite wood grain appear more three-dimensional and distinct. The finish also makes the pen easier to maintain, protecting the wooden body from accidental ink stains. However, this process incurs higher costs. Both high-definition, high-gloss and non-high-definition finishes have their unique charm, catering to different tastes. Lao Shanyang Fountain Pens sincerely presents this pen, and thanks you for your support. The high-definition, high-gloss finish is akin to the luster of wood trim in a luxury car, capable of reflection and offering a uniquely substantial feel. Most finishes on the market are simply waxed or polished after curing; such meticulous processing is rare. (Natural grain, high-quality random selection.) The pen features an airtight cap with a flame grain engraving, gunmetal gray electroplated trim and accessories, and a spring-loaded clip engraved with the 3952 brand logo.
This pen is available with two accessory color options: gunmetal gray for a subtle, understated look, and antique bronze for an elegant, vintage feel. Please select your preferred color before placing your order. Thank you.
The nib is a rose gold German Bock #180 (#5) size steel nib, meticulously hand-ground and adjusted into a calligraphy nib by Lao Shanyang artisans. It enhances the strokes of Chinese characters, offering smooth writing and easy line variation, imparting a unique brush-like charm.
**Gift Set Includes: German SCHMIDT K2 Converter (inkless) + One Handmade Black Genuine Leather Pen Sleeve by Taiwanese Artisan (style shipped randomly) + 3952 Lao Shanyang Premium Gift Box Packaging**
Fountain Pen Dimensions: Total length approximately 142mm, body and grip section approximately 107mm, maximum diameter (excluding clip) approximately 12mm, total weight (excluding nib) approximately 32g.
Hand-ground and Adjusted Calligraphy Nib:
1. For calligraphy nibs, it is recommended to start by dipping the nib in ink for writing (do not remove the converter installed in the pen body, to prevent ink from flowing back into the pen body after writing). After a period of adjustment, then use the converter for inking.
2. A calligraphy nib is an EF nib that has been ground and adjusted into a curved tip. Line variation is not solely achieved by pressing down on the nib, but by the angle of the pen hold, utilizing the curve of the nib to create different line widths. Holding the pen more upright, with less contact area between the nib and the paper, results in thinner lines. Holding the pen at a more oblique angle or applying slight pressure increases the contact area, resulting in thicker lines. The ability to write thick or thin lines depends on your proficiency (each nib has a certain tolerance for pressure; avoid excessive force to prevent damage or misalignment of the nib. It is recommended to use a writing pad under the paper for better writing.)
In response to environmental protection, we do not proactively provide paper bags. If you require one for gifting, please specify this in the order notes after purchase. Thank you.
Images are for reference only. The product is a single pen. Some photos may have slight color differences due to lighting and angles; the actual product prevails.
Note: Regularly wipe and maintain the inside of the pen body and cap. When storing, do not leave the nib pointing downwards for extended periods.
Gentle Reminder: Do not press down on the nib or write with it skewed to the left or right (for right-handed users, it is recommended to hold the pen so the nib points towards the 10 or 11 o'clock position). This prevents accidental misalignment of the iridium tip, which can cause scratching or ink flow issues. The nib should be rinsed with clean water regularly to prevent ink buildup and clogging, which can affect writing quality.
Helpful Tip: The antique bronze electroplated accessories should be wiped clean regularly. Over time, with frequent contact with hand sweat, they will oxidize to a more antique bronze color, resembling an antique piece.
