Kinfolk Table

Let the stories of home unfold gently within the pages. This book, "Kinfolk Table," carries a subtle aroma of a cookbook, inviting us into the lives of people from various professions. Through their dining tables, it explores 53 unique home spaces and life philosophies. Each chapter begins with a portrait of the artisan on the left page and an image of the person on the right, featuring stories and recipes from 53 artisans, including photographers, band members, florists, and writers. I would never normally read a cookbook (?), being a tasteless person who doesn't prioritize food. Yet, I find myself drawn to the appearance of the dining tables in this book, the way they are set, and the pairing of the tableware. The artisans of this generation shine brightly in their respective fields, but they don't easily let go of beautiful things. A rising Danish interior designer, while striving to break away from traditional styles, still cherishes the dining habits cultivated with family: visiting the market daily for seasonal ingredients and cooking meals personally. Every time I write about the Kinfolk series, I feel compelled to wait until I can compose my thoughts calmly to offer a sincere review, as if only then can I do justice to a book I appreciate in every aspect.
