About Woodblock Printing At isica-organic, we create patterns on fabric using woodblock printing. Woodblock printing is a rare technique today due to the significant time and effort involved. First, each pattern is meticulously carved by hand into a block. Carving a single block can be a patient process, taking anywhere from one week to a month. However, the handmade nature allows for freedom in combining blocks and colors, offering the captivating ability to create an infinite variety of patterns. Furthermore, the process of hand-stamping each piece results in subtle variations in texture and alignment, creating a unique charm distinct from uniform, industrially produced items. While we have also practiced silk screen printing for many years, we now focus exclusively on woodblock printing for our creations. We use environmentally conscious water-based inks.
