The temple is dedicated primarily to the City God, a guardian of justice between the realms of the living and the dead, who protects the people and wards off evil. The City God’s birthday is celebrated annually on the 14th day of the fifth lunar month, marked by one of Taipei’s most vibrant folk festivals. On the eve of the birthday, a grand parade and ritual procession take place, drawing thousands of participants in celebration and gratitude. This cherished tradition preserves both deep-rooted cultural memory and communal faith.
