Burmese Spirit Totem Carnelian Ancient Bead

Excavated artifact. Subterranean ancient bead. Irregular octagonal bead body. Features include scale patterns, red patina, corrosion pits, and agate iridescence, indicative of its subterranean origin. This unique totem ancient bead, depicting a creature with three fingers and the head of a mythical being, has currently only been found in Myanmar. There are three interpretations of this totem: The first interpretation, proposed by early collectors in Taiwan over a decade ago, suggests it represents an extraterrestrial being. The second interpretation, held by major bead wholesalers and mainland Chinese collectors, identifies it as the anthropomorphic Garuda, a mythical bird originating from the ancient Zhang Zhung civilization of Tibet. The third interpretation, based on research by a Burmese-American expert in anthropology and archaeology, and a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, suggests it represents a deity from the ancient Bronze Age beliefs of Myanmar. The third interpretation is considered the most credible.
